Prayer Is Good For Your Health! Want to Know How?

I'm so excited to share this post with you.

This just may change your prayer life, I know it already has mine.

Recently, I was listening to the Anxiety Summit with Trudy Scott and her guest speaker made the comment that prayer and meditation increase our GABA receptors.

My interest was immediately peaked because low GABA is something that we struggle with in our home due to Lyme disease.

GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid, is the most abundant inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. GABA helps with relaxation, sleep, and anxiety.

We began using GABA for my daughter to help with her anxiety and OCD from tick-borne diseases. I began using it when I was feeling stressed and anxious while interacting with her. It works quickly, is natural, and there are no side effects. This supplement is definitely a staple in my medicine cabinet.

When I looked up whether or not prayer really does increase GABA, here is what I learned.

Can you believe that God would bless us physically and emotionally when we pray?

Sometimes it can be hard to maintain a healthy prayer life, especially if you've been sick and in pain for any length of time. Moms in general are on nonstop "GO" mode, but we especially need to make prayer a priority.

When you know you'll benefit from something, it's much easier to look forward to participating. We can't afford not to have a vibrant and consistent prayer life. This list doesn't even touch on the spiritual aspects of prayer.

Prayer draws us into a closer relationship with God, it allows us to have an impact on the lives of those we pray for and enables us to join in the work that God has for us.

When we pray, we are not bystanders but active participants in the army of God. In the midst of your trials and hardships, you're going to feel like God has abandoned you, but He has promised that He will never leave or forsake you and he clearly will bless you with health benefits.

I plan to keep prayer the most important thing I do each day because it's good for my spiritual & physical health.

Lyme Disease and Living Healthy - Simple Things to Do to Protect and Heal Your Body

How To Make A Tick Kit

Each year approximately 300,000 people will get infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme Disease.

Some of us live in areas where it's not very hard to get bit by ticks. I've heard of others who have never seen a tick, which I just couldn't imagine. Either way, it's pretty important to know that ticks are not the only way you can get Lyme disease.

Mosquitoes, biting flies, fleas and possibly spiders can also transmit Lyme as well as many other diseases.

So, are you prepared to deal with a tick bite when it happens?

I've found it helpful to have a tick kit already put together so that in that moment of panic, when I find a nasty creature hanging off my child, I don't have to think about what to do. I just go grab my tick kit and get that thing off as effectively and as quickly as possible.

So, did I convince you to put one together for your family?

Here's what you need:

1. A container or small storage box to store your supplies. I used a first aid box that I purchased at the local store.



2. Very sharp tweezers


3. Magnifying glass - especially if you have eyes like mine and need the help.

4. Antiseptic or antibacterial ointment. I keep a small spray bottle with witch hazel and Young Living Thieves to use as an antiseptic.

5. Small plastic or glass vials or small snack storage bags like Ziploc.

6. Cotton balls.

7. A card with website URLs for where to send your tick for testing or where you can go for more information. Make sure my blog is on there!



One final tip, make sure you keep your tick kit somewhere easily accessible. I found it was best if I had a separate first aid kit, that way my tick kit is always stocked when I need it.

Thankfully, I haven't needed to use it for 9 years but last week when my son and I both found ticks my tick kit was available and stocked.

How to Go From a Stressed to a Blessed Homeschool Mom

Do you know what time of year it is?  It's the end of our school year!

Whoo hoo! This is definitely a time for celebration.

This is the end of my 16th year of homeschooling and quite frankly I'm feeling pretty good about it.

My kids are 21, 18, 15, and almost 9.  My two older girls were homeschooled through graduation with the exception of my oldest who spent her Kindergarten year at public school.

I thought I'd share some of the things I've learned along the way. This is not an exhaustive list by any means but just a few things that might help if you're just starting out or maybe you've been homeschooling for a long time and just need to be reminded.
