Calming the Storm of Anxiety in Your Child

Calming the Storm of Anxiety in Your Child
Since recently sharing our story with anxiety, I've been meeting moms who also have a child with anxiety. I've read research stating that there is a rise in anxiety in our children across the nation.

Because my child suffered from severe anxiety and OCD I know the deep down frustration that a mom can feel when your child has a panic attack and you have no earthly idea what's going on or what to do.

Recognizing Anxiety in Your Child

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a doctor and what I share here is only for your personal reading and not intended to be used as a medical diagnosis or treatment plan. Please seek the care of a doctor if you or your child are experiencing any symptoms that you are concerned about.

Learn how you can recognize anxiety in your child.
When my family was thrust head on into life with Lyme and tick-borne diseases, anxiety was one of the many symptoms we had.

While anxiety is very common with Lyme it manifested in different ways for each one of us.

When my daughter, at 7 years old, began having anxiety and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) my pediatrician told me it was very common in kids her age, handed me a book list and kindly sent me on my way.

I've Been Lying To Myself About My Health

The other day I found these words coming out of my mouth, "Oh, I'm about 95% better". I said these words while I was feeling rather exhausted from an anniversary celebration we gave to my parents almost 5 days before.

I've been having trouble walking again, having pain and heaviness in my legs. My neck and shoulders have been aching and I've been having pain in my back and sciatica.

Why would I even think I'm 95% percent better when I have these kinds of symptoms going on? Maybe I just wanted to put on my happy face and pretend that everything was OK. I'm not really sure but my words sure caught me off guard.
