Reminding Myself About Life Through Unexpected Loss

death, heaven, memory of Becka
I’ve always known that life here on earth is short which makes each and every life extremely valuable.

Our family was touched by this reality recently when our dear friends suddenly lost their 31-year-old daughter in a tragic car accident.

The devastating news came, the feelings of hopelessness and loss, the questions why and then the urge to do something, something productive and helpful. You can't fix anything or change what happened but I needed to do something to support, love and serve our friends.

During the past few weeks, I've watched as God’s grace was poured out over the family & those who loved this young woman.

It's only by God's grace that a person can still say that
God is good when a tragedy like this hits.

Our families have been connected through friendship and through our faith in Jesus Christ.

Though I’ve been friends with her mom for years and my oldest daughter has been best friends with this young woman’s younger sister, I was only recently getting to know her.

I enjoyed working with her to plan her younger sister's bridal shower. I loved to talk to her about essential oils, herbs and making things. She had a kind heart and a great sense of humor.

Life will be forever changed for our friends and for those who loved their daughter but they are trusting God to carry them through the darkness. Each day they will have to allow God to carry them, to heal them and to lead them.

As I listened to stories about this precious life, I learned what a truly amazing young woman she was. She loved her family deeply, she loved her friends and was completely devoted to them. She was always kind to those she came in contact with no matter who they were.

She worked hard with her hands, was a devoted wife who worked and played right along side of her husband. She was an amazing mom to a spunky and happy 2-year-old. She lived life to the fullest; she had fun and poured herself into everything that she did. She was the Proverbs 31 woman. Where I would have said, "no one can do it all", it sure seemed like this young woman did do it all.

Her life inspires me to approach my life differently.

I want to be brave and adventurous. I want to have more fun. I want to try new things and while I've already devoted my life to loving and serving my family and friends, I want to do it with a greater passion knowing my time here on earth is short in the grand scheme of eternity.

If you haven’t hugged your children, your husband and those you love, please take time each and every day to express your love and admiration.

We don't know how much time we have here on earth and if you haven’t placed your faith in Christ you should really consider it as one of the most important things you’ll ever do and you shouldn't wait until tomorrow because tomorrow is never promised.

Faith in Jesus Christ is the only sure way of
having a rich and forever life in heaven.

We can’t earn our way to heaven by anything that we do. Good works, going to church, paying tithes, dressing a certain way, or observing special days won’t get us there.

The only way to heaven is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior. Acts 16:31 God is perfect and we’re not because of our sin so He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty that we could never pay.

Please consider this life changing message. If you'd like to know more please take the time to read this message called How Can I Be Saved. If you chose to place your faith in Jesus I'd love to know about it.

While those in Christ have eternal life, each and every life here on earth is precious and valuable. Each and every day is an opportunity for us to live for Christ and love others.

Thank you for spending this time with me as I remember and honor our friends and their daughter.
